WORTH A THOUGHT.

A reader requested that I put this as a post. Here it is.

NASA reports, by the next 10 months, earth gets hotter by 4 degrees from now.

The Himalayan glaciers are melting at a rapid rate.
So all of you lend your hands to fight Global Warming.
We have to take the following steps :

Plant more trees.

Don't waste water

Water is a precious resource

Don't Use or Burn PLASTIC.

Hold back or go prepared to counter temptation with a cloth bag.

SAVE THE EARTH

  1. Whenever I see the words Save the Earth I always have a good laugh. It's not the earth that needs saving it's US. How arrogant to think that we (who can't even live together as a peaceful global family) can save the earth. For millions of years the earth has survived asteroid impacts, mega volcanic activity and a whole range of devastating events and it's still here. It doesn't need saving. What we're really talking about is SAVING OURSELVES from going where the dinosaurs went - slowly and surely into extinction.

So please do go ahead and plant trees and eliminate the use of plastic if it makes you feel better but let's cut the virtuous "I'm saving the earth" crap that invariably goes with it.

And if you really want to scare yourselves shitless then start worrying about all the methane that's locked up in the Siberian tundra. Methane is 21 times more powerful than carbon dioxide in terms of contributing to global warming so if the tundra melts things will get really, really hot.

To debate whether global warming is a man-made or natural phenomena is facile...what we should be doing is working out how to care for each other when parts of the earth start to become uninhabitable. As well as planting trees, saving water and using non-plastic shopping bags are you also willing to open up your home/country to the millions who will be displaced? Now that's something to think about.

  2. Stinky, thank you very much for your fair comment. I really appreciate this. This blog intends to create awareness. It is hoped that this blog will spur ordinary people to take little steps, steps within their capability to do our little bit to contribute towards a cleaner environment.

Housing the millions who will be displaced is a gargantuan task. If we, the ordinary man in the street can do our little bit and the scientists do their part about the tundra, the disaster could be averted.

Stinky, from my first post I invited contributors to this blog. Can you? Our readers would welcome your contributions. You can email your contributions to ktswee@hotmail.com

Thank you again for your feedback.
